Our Story
Made with Love began as a spark in an unexpected moment. Founder Patrick Greene was living in Bologna, Italy, with his wife and young children during COVID. Wandering the narrow streets, he became captivated by the artisans he came across — their craft shaped by centuries of lineage, their devotion unwavering even in uncertain times. As a documentary filmaker, he felt compelled to do something more than just admire them. He picked up a camera and began capturing their stories, one workshop at a time.
A global distributor took notice, followed by PBS in the United States, and soon these intimate portraits of craftsmanship were being shared far beyond the cobblestone alleys where they began.
The name Made with Love was inspired by a dear family friend who, whenever he ordered a coffee or a sandwich, would smile and say, “fatto con Amore” or “Make it with love.” The idea stuck — that when love is poured into something you create, it tastes richer, looks more beautiful, and carries a soulfulness that can’t be faked. That is the essence of artisanship: emotion embedded in every stitch, swirl, carve, and flame.
As Made with Love grew, a new vision took shape: to give people the same deeply personal access to the artisans our film crews experienced. We wanted to give travelers the chance to step behind the scenes, enter hidden workshops and intimate studios, and witness firsthand how these extraordinary crafts come to life. Not staged, not scripted — but real, raw, and profoundly human moments with the artisans themselves.
Since its beginnings in 2020, the Made with Love team has produced dozens of films seen around the world and has shared the stories of over 200 of the world’s finest artisans.
We aim to honor the makers whose hands shape beauty, carry on vital cultural traditions, and to invite people into their worlds — not only through our films, but through immersive journeys where guests can meet these artisans in person and see how extraordinary things are crafted, by hand and with love.
Our mission at Made with Love is to share the passions & stories of artisans from around the world — connecting people with creators who keep culture, tradition, and craftsmanship alive.
Through immersive, emotional, and thoughtfully curated experiences, we bring curious minds into these artisan studios, offering a rare glimpse into their creative process. By celebrating their work, we aim to help preserve these timeless crafts for future generations while inspiring deeper human connection through the art of making.
