Free Time - Castle Leslie Estate | Nestled in the charming village of Glaslough in County Monaghan, Castle Leslie Estate is a fairytale-like destination brimming with history, luxury, and natural beauty. One of the few remaining Irish estates still owned by its founding family, this 1,000-acre property offers a serene escape with its Victorian castle, tranquil woodlands, shimmering lakes, and rolling parklands. Guests can stay in the uniquely decorated castle rooms, the contemporary Lodge, or charming self-catering cottages. As you leave Monaghan, the patchwork of farmland gives way to the gentle undulating hills of County Cavan. You'll pass serene lakes and quiet country roads that exude a tranquil charm. Entering County Leitrim, the scenery becomes more dramatic, with glimpses of the rugged terrain and peaceful waterways that define the area. Approaching Sligo, the majestic Benbulben mountain comes into view, a striking landmark that signals your arrival in Yeats Country. The drive is a delightful blend of pastoral beauty and natural wonders, offering a quintessential taste of Ireland's enchanting countryside.

The drive from Sligo to Galway is a journey through Ireland’s wild and poetic heart, where every mile offers a new glimpse of its untamed beauty. Heading south along the Wild Atlantic Way, we'll pass by rugged coastlines, rolling hills, and charming villages like Strandhill and Kinvara, each inviting you to linger. As we approach Galway, the landscape softens, revealing the vast expanse of Galway Bay shimmering under an ever-changing sky.

AFTERNOON

Traditional Irish Harp-Making with Natalie Surina - We arrive at the Aughnanure Castle, located near Oughterard in County Galway. It’s a striking 16th-century tower house that offers a glimpse into Ireland's medieval past. Aughnanure has a special connection to Irish harps, as it’s believed that the castle served as a gathering place for musicians during its time of prominence. The O'Flaherty clan, known for their patronage of the arts, likely welcomed harpists, whose music would have resonated within the castle's ancient walls, adding to its rich cultural legacy. We will meet renowned traditional harp maker Natalie Surina, who will showcase the intricate art of crafting these exquisite masterpieces. To add to the experience, she will share a few of her favorite Irish tunes, filling the air with the enchanting sounds of the harp.

Candlemaking and beekeeping at Brookfield Farm -Ailbhe Gerrard at Brookfield Farm embraces sustainable practices and a profound respect for nature to create honey and handcrafted beeswax candles. With a focus on biodiversity, she nurtures thriving bee colonies in a pristine, chemical-free environment. During our visit, we’ll delve into the art of beekeeping and discover the traditional techniques behind her beautifully crafted beeswax candles, which reflect her commitment to eco-friendly, natural products and harmonious living with the environment. Then, we’ll head to Brookfield Farm to learn about honey production and sustainable farming practices. 

Free Time at Lyrath Estate - Near Kilkenny City, this is a luxurious retreat blending 17th-century elegance with modern design. Set on 170 acres of parkland, it features serene gardens, a tranquil lake, a world-class spa, and fine dining, offering a perfect escape for relaxation or special occasions. Clay pigeon shooting, horse riding, and additional activities to be booked in advance.

Irish Sheepdog Experience - An unforgettable Irish experience just outside Dublin. Step onto our working farm on the Wicklow–Kildare border and witness the incredible bond between sheepdogs and shepherd.

Drive to Dublin - Approximately 1.5 hours with optional stops.
